The making of a suspended installation

From the first sketch to the last stem: what it takes to hang twelve metres of flowers from a ceiling.

The making of a suspended installation

Suspended installations look effortless when they are finished. Behind them are weeks of planning, a site survey and a great deal of rigging.

Survey first

We visit every venue to check fixing points, load limits and access. Some buildings allow rigging from the structure; others need free-standing frames.

Reusable mechanics

Our frames are steel and modular, built once and reused across seasons. Flowers are held in water tubes and chicken wire rather than foam.
